Inheritance & Succession

Planning succession with foresight and handling estates with confidence – with an eye on the tax consequences.

Who we advise

We advise business families, owners of real estate and financial assets, as well as heirs and persons entitled to a compulsory share in complex estates – including cross-border estates with assets or heirs in Germany. The larger and more complex the assets, the more it pays to look at legal and tax questions together.

Key areas

  • Wills and inheritance contracts: tailored drafting, prior and subsequent heirs, legacies, executorship
  • Business succession: aligning articles of association and wills, lifetime transfers, family companies
  • Wealth succession and tax: gifts, tax-free allowances, German inheritance and gift tax – together with tax adviser Norbert Schröer
  • Compulsory share: asserting and defending compulsory share and supplementary compulsory share claims
  • Division of estates: dividing communities of heirs, out of court and in court
  • Lasting powers: lasting power of attorney, care directive and advance healthcare directive
  • Estate curatorship: experience as a certified estate curator (BDN) in estates with unknown heirs

How we work

Adina-Julia Schröer has practised as a lawyer for more than twenty years and has completed the specialist lawyer course in inheritance law. Inheritance advice requires sensitivity: it is about families, about assets and often about conflicts that span generations. The aim is a solution that is legally sound, tax-efficient – and lasting within the family.
